Avi Brisman received a B.A. from Oberlin College (Oberlin, OH), a M.F.A. from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), a J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law (Hartford, CT), and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Emory University (Atlanta, GA).  Dr. Brisman's research interests include the anthropology of law, critical criminology, cultural criminology, and green criminology.  Within the area of green criminology, Dr. Brisman has written extensively on environmental rights, linkages between armed conflict and environmental degradation, representations ofenvironmental crime and harm in the media, and individual and collective resistance to environmental crime and harm.  Dr. Brisman has recently published a co-edited volume, with Dr. Nigel South of the University of Essex, entitledRoutledge International Handbook of Green Criminology(http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415678827/).  Dr. Brisman is currently at work on another book with Dr. South—a co-authored book, entitledGreen Cultural Criminology: Constructions of Environmental Harm, Consumerism, and Resistance to Ecocide(http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415630740/)–which will be published in December 2013 as part of Routedge’s series, “New Directions in Critical Criminology.”
